Into the Maelstrom is the second major update patch to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, and with it comes a ton of new content. The Primal Leviathan will awaken, and players who continue the main storyline will eventually come to challenge the classic Final Fantasy summon brought forth by the Sahagin tribe. New Leviathan-themed weapons will be your prize, though we don’t know yet whether they’ll come from story mode or Extreme Mode — a higher difficulty level intended to put seasoned adventurers to the test.
The legend of Hildibrand, Insepctor Extraordinaire, continues in Into the Maelstrom. After A Realm Awoken‘s initial episode that saw his triumphant return to Eorzea, the inspector and his assistant Nashu, are hot on the trail of a weapon thief. Could the culprit perhaps be a mysterious interdimensional so-and-so garbed with a red hood and a penchant for pilfering? I know it seems unlikely, but we’ll find out in the next episode of Hildibrand’s story — just make sure you’re ready for a fight!
Square Enix’s official summary of Into the Maelstrom‘s story is as follows:
Long dormant forces stir,
their awakening a presage of night eternal.
Political unrest pervades the three city-states as the Scions of the Seventh Dawn
leave behind their home in the Waking Sands. For the betterment of Eorzea,
they have re-established themselves beyond the reach of those who would sway
the Scions for personal gain.
Yet despite the Scions’ best efforts, balance will not be restored to the realm so
easily. Ever do the mysteries of the Echo and the Ascians elude them, while the
beast tribes rally with renewed ambition, threatening to unleash the wrath of
another primal upon the land.
To stave off the encroaching darkness and pull the realm back from the brink of
destruction, the Warriors of Light plunge headlong into the maelstrom…
Yugiri, seen garbed in violet, hails from the war-torn Far Eastern nation Doma in Othard — and will play an integral part of the story. As a refuge from a nation devastated by the Garlean empire, she has come to Eorzea to seek a new home for her people.
Other additions Into the Maelstrom will include: an update to the main storyline, four new turns to the Binding Coil of Bahamut, the Amdapor Township dungeon, hard and extreme modes of previous content, vanity system, and much more.

Final Fantsy XIII Trilogy
The trilogy of the Final Fantasy 13 games have never looked so crisp, clear, and HD, thanks to a remaster of the three on the Xbox One.
The Final Fantasy 13 remaster trilogy is available through all of the original Xbox 360 discs, as the three games are now backwards compatible with the Xbox One line of systems.
The aforementioned enhancements make a pretty big difference. The cutscenes were rendered in a much higher quality for the Final Fantasy 13 remaster trilogy games, most notably on the Xbox One X console. Textures, facial animations, backgrounds, and particle effects are all much more detailed than ever before in any of the Final Fan
